For over two years, Michael contributed to three episodes of this six part National Geographic series currently streaming on Disney+. The show profiled legendary NatGeo photographers, not just looking at their process, but also their personal and emotional journeys using a combination of vérité, interviews, and archival. Unique in its scope and style, each bespoke episode was crafted by individual documentary filmmakers — Sam Pollard, Marshall Curry, Kristi Jacobson, among others — who tailored their hour to the profiled photographer, yet the series has a consistent throughline overseen by showrunner Pagan Harleman. Michael earned an ASC Award nomination as the sole cinematographer for “Life is Once, Forever” about prolific editorial photographer Dan Winters. He also chased storms in the Midwest with Krystle Wright and had the honor of filming Campbell Addy’s first art show in London. Photographer was awarded an Arts and Culture Peabody in 2025 and was Executive Produced by Academy Award winning filmmakers Jimmy Chin and Chai Vasarhelyi.
